The United States is Amid an Opioid Epidemic.
Perscriptions Can Lead To Addiction…
Opioids are a class of medications prescribed by providers to treat pain. People who use opiates can develop a physical and psychological reliance on opioids. With prolonged use, pain-relieving effects may lessen and pain can become worse. The body can develop a dependence on opiates and experience withdrawal symptoms making it difficult to stop using them.
Opioids Include:
- Codeine
- Hydrocodone
- Oxycodone
- Hydromorphone
- Morphine
- Fentanyl
Opioids are also found in illicit drugs like heroin.
When Does Usage Cross Into Addiction?
Addiction occurs when dependence interferes with daily life. You may be taking more medication than prescribed, experiencing uncontrollable cravings for the medication, and experiencing the inability to control opioid use even though it’s having a negative impact on personal relationships or finances.
If you think you may have opioid addiction, treatment is available.

Why Medication-Assisted Treatment?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) utilizes a combination of resources for counseling, treatment, and FDA-approved medications to provide a “whole patient” approach to meet the specific medical needs of each patient.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) provides:
- Improved patient results by reducing the risk of overdose and increasing the rate of retention in treatment.
- Decreased illicit opiate use and other activities among people with substance abuse disorders.
- Increased patients’ ability to gain and maintain employment and live a self-directed life.
MAT Medical specializes in providing evidence-based medication-assisted treatment using FDA-approved medications, in combination with counseling, for adults who experience opioid use disorder and/or alcohol use disorder.
How It Works
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a combination of traditional counseling & behavioral therapies alongside FDA-approved medication to reduce the risk of relapse, prevent overdoses, and help sustain recovery in what is known as a “whole patient” approach.
Step 1: Induction
The initial in-person visit where we will complete a full assessment, physical exam and discuss treatment options. Medication can also be prescribed if clinically indicated.
Step 2: Stabilization
Bi-monthly visits to monitor the progress and treatment response of the patient after the induction into medication-assisted treatment.
Step 3: Maintenance
Monthly visits for stable patients to evaluate medication and discuss ongoing treatment goals.
